Silicon Valley startup RedLink, a business intelligence solution provider for academic publishers, didn’t have to look far when it needed specialists to carry out in-depth research into the structure and scope of academic disciplines and to develop a comprehensive and hierarchical taxonomy. RedLink put together a team of experts led by Dr. Virginia Tucker, a leader in online asynchronous LIS (Library Information Science) education, and lecturer at San José State University (SJSU) School of Information (iSchool), to develop the most comprehensive taxonomy of academic disciplines. Meet the Team – Virginia Tucker image

Virginia Tucker, Taxonomy Lead Introduction 1) Tell us a little bit about your background. I’ve been on the faculty at San Jose State’s information school for the last ten years. Prior to that, I worked in the information industry in Silicon Valley, both as an information architect and manager of client instructional programs. My first position as an information professional was as the Physics Librarian at Stanford University. I have a PhD in information systems, an MLS, and a BA in music composition from Stanford. 2) What excites you to work in a start-up environment?
