In less than a year, Remarq has blossomed from a sophisticated and well-designed annotation tool to become the robust, full-featured engagement platform we envisioned. The road has seen many milestones along the way. Prior releases have introduced Groups, full user profiles, article-sharing capabilities, article-claiming capabilities, author and editor update features, and ORCID integration. We’ve also made the tool faster, introduced a browser plug-in to support use across the web, and added dozens of journals to the family of Remarq publications.

In its latest release, which was launched on May 22, Remarq has added important new editorial, marketing, and user-centric features:

  • Robust, Discoverable Profiles Remarq profiles are now more robust, and will be discoverable via major search engines; users can manage profile visibility
  • Post-Publication Review  Publishers can opt to allow users to post structured post-publication reviews; reviews can be customized by journal, and reviews can be moderated
  • User Surveys and Polls – Publishers and editors will be able to use Remarq to gather feedback and survey their audience with flexible survey tools (including independent surveys that don’t appear on your journals); publishers and editors will also be able to run polls on the platform
  • Remarq Recommendations  Remarq Recommendations (a new Discover tab) will identify relevant papers, journals, groups, and users
  • Enhanced Alerting  Users will receive updates for all the activities related to the people, journals, or articles they follow, including notifications when articles they follow are cited
  • GDPR Compliance – With this release, Remarq is fully compliant with new GDPR requirements

With nearly 100 journals using Remarq, and more coming aboard, publishers will have the ability to engage thousands of users on multiple levels — making their articles more useful via annotation and note-taking, allowing readers to connect and collaborate within and across their journals, and providing authors and editors with new ways to engage their readership.
